During his career as a national class runner, Peter Gilmore has achieved great success in both the marathon and half-marathon distances. He was the top American finisher at the New York Marathon in 2006 (2:13:13) and at the Boston Marathon in 2007 (2:16:41). Peter finished 7th overall at the Boston Marathon in 2006 with a time of 2:12:45. In 2008, he won and set the course record at the Surf City USA Half Marathon (1:03:53).
Peter shares his passion for running by staying involved in youth running programs in the San Mateo, CA area. In 2009, he served as a volunteer track and cross country coach at Hillsdale High School (San Mateo). He is the co-founder of the Faultline Track Club, a youth running team designed to encourage a lifelong love for the sport of running.
As a professional distance runner, Peter dedicates his life to inspiring and motivating other runners. Through speaking engagements, he shares valuable information about motivation, training, nutrition and other topics to runners around the country. Recently, he has been a speaker at the Bay Area Track Club Marathon Speaker Series and the Infinite Running Marathon Training Clinics.
After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Peter worked as an inclusion aide in the public school system, helping elementary children with disabilities find success in the classroom.
Peter and his wife, Liz Wu reside in San Mateo, California.
